Virginia Beach Marijuana Doctors
Virginia Beach marijuana doctors who certify patients must be licensed in Virginia as a physician, physician assistant or jointly licensed nurse practitioner. Code § 4.1-1601 and exempt from Virginia’s public records law, with access limited to the uses the statute lists.
You become a medical marijuana patient in Virginia Beach once a practitioner issues your written certification. Adult retail sales stay illegal in Virginia until July 1, 2027, so for now licensed dispensaries serve only certified patients and the agents, parents or guardians who buy for them. Virginia allows the certification visit by real-time video. Your certification can last up to one year, unless the practitioner sets an earlier date.
As of October 2026, the CCA lists a licensed medical dispensary on North Birdneck Road in Virginia Beach, in its Eastern Virginia region. Dr. Green Relief has no Virginia Beach office, and no office anywhere in Virginia.

State law lets a dispensary deliver in person to a Virginia Beach patient’s home or business. Cannabis oil and other processed products are generally capped at 10 mg of THC per dose under the State’s medical marijuana laws. To be eligible for a medical marijuana card in Virginia, a practitioner must find you have a diagnosed condition that may benefit, such as AIDS, cancer, ALS, Crohn’s disease, PTSD, nausea, Alzheimer’s, seizures or terminal illness.
After you are certified, no program registration or state-issued card is required; the dispensary checks your written certification and ID. The CCA names practitioners who chose to appear on its Participating Practitioner List. Out-of-state medical cards are not accepted in Virginia; you must live in Virginia, permanently or temporarily.

What does the Virginia medical cannabis program ask of a Virginia Beach patient? A written certification, a government ID and Virginia residency. Dispensing is capped at a 90-day supply in any 90-day period, with the amount set by the dispensing pharmacist or certifying practitioner. The requirement to register with the state ended on July 1, 2022. If your ID does not show a Virginia address, a utility bill or lease can prove residency. The one medical document you need is a written certification from a practitioner licensed in Virginia, issued on the CCA form through the CCA Portal. Once a practitioner certifies you, you may buy medical cannabis at licensed dispensaries, or have a registered agent shop for you.

For a Virginia Beach patient, the practitioner’s certification fee is the main cost, since Virginia does not require patients to pay a state registration fee.
