How Do You Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Tampa?
You get a Florida medical marijuana card in Tampa in two steps. First, you have an in-person exam at our Tampa office. Then, if the physician certifies you, you apply to the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU), which issues the state ID card.

How does getting a Florida medical marijuana card work for Tampa patients? A qualified physician examines you in person and may certify a listed condition or, at the physician’s discretion, a condition that passes the comparable-condition test in Florida law; you then apply to the state for your ID card. Today’s law grew out of Amendment 2, which 71.3% of Florida voters approved in November 2016. To get your Florida medical marijuana card, you first have to be certified by a qualified physician. Medical Marijuana Laws
With a certification and an approved ID card, Florida law lets you buy, possess and use medical marijuana in the amounts your physician orders. Only a qualified physician, who must be licensed in Florida as an MD or DO, can add you to the Medical Marijuana Use Registry. Section 381.986(1)(n) defines a qualified physician as “a person who holds an active, unrestricted license as an allopathic physician under chapter 458 or as an osteopathic physician under chapter 459 and is in compliance with the physician education requirements of subsection (3)”, and subsection (3)(a) sets those requirements as a 2-hour course and subsequent examination, completed before approval and again before each license renewal.

Anxiety, insomnia, depression and migraines are not on the list, so the physician decides at your visit whether yours meets that test.
Can I renew my marijuana card online in Tampa?
Yes. After your initial in-person evaluation with a Tampa marijuana doctor, you can complete future certification renewals with that same doctor via telemedicine without returning to the office. A physician certification lasts no more than 210 days, and the Florida OMMU ID card is renewed each year for $75.
