FAQ

No. Under Senate Bill 56, which took effect March 20, 2026, consuming marijuana of any kind in a public place is prohibited in Ohio. This includes smoking, vaping, and even consuming edibles outside of a private residence or private property. Violations are subject to criminal penalties under state law. Consumption is legal only in private settings at home or on private property where the property owner permits it. Medical card holders are subject to the same public consumption rules as recreational users.

Ohio residents 18 and older who have been diagnosed with one of 26 qualifying conditions may be eligible. Common qualifying conditions include chronic and severe pain, PTSD, cancer, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and glaucoma. Conditions like arthritis, chronic migraines, and degenerative disc disease also qualify under the chronic pain category. A licensed Ohio physician must confirm your diagnosis and submit a recommendation to the state registry. You can complete the entire process via telehealth.

The Ohio state registration fee is currently $0.01, effectively eliminated as of March 2025. The main cost is the physician evaluation fee. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Green Relief to confirm current evaluation pricing. If you are not approved, you do not pay for the visit.

Your Ohio medical marijuana card is valid for one year from the date it is issued. You will need to complete an annual renewal with a licensed physician to maintain your certification. Physician recommendations older than 90 days become void, so it is important to renew before your card expires.

Yes. Telehealth evaluations are fully permitted under the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. Dr. Green Relief physicians conduct evaluations by video call with no in-person visit required. Once your physician submits your recommendation to the state registry, you can complete your card registration online and download your digital card.
