A physician’s evaluation for Florida medical marijuana cards starts with your diagnosis, because not every condition qualifies for marijuana treatment in Florida. The physician decides at your visit whether your condition qualifies under section 381.986(2), Florida Statutes.
If you do qualify, there is an additional fee charged by the state for obtaining a medical marijuana card. You will also have to have follow-up visits for recertification at least every 210 days. Our FAQ has information on these costs and requirements for the program.

Medical marijuana is legal in Florida only for registered patients and caregivers, and only when it comes from a licensed medical marijuana treatment center, bought at one of its dispensing locations, such as those in Panama City and Panama City Beach, or delivered by the center, with purchase and possession amounts controlled by Florida law. Possessing 20 grams or less of cannabis without a card, not counting resin or anything prepared from resin, is a first-degree misdemeanor under section 893.13(6)(b), Florida Statutes. What conditions qualify for medical marijuana in Panama City?
Florida law recognizes a list of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis certification. At Dr. Green Relief, Panama City patients are evaluated against the Florida list below. Florida law (section 381.986(2), Florida Statutes) lists these qualifying medical conditions:

After examining you, a qualified physician may also certify you for another condition, such as some cases of anxiety, depression, migraines or neuropathy, if it is of the same kind or class as, or comparable to, one of the listed conditions other than a terminal condition or chronic nonmalignant pain; that decision is at the physician’s discretion, and certification is never promised. If you are unsure whether your condition qualifies, you can schedule an evaluation. Bring any records that document your diagnosis to that visit.
How much does a medical marijuana card cost in Panama City?
A first card from Panama City costs $199 for the new patient evaluation, paid to Dr. Green Relief at our Tampa office, and then, if you are certified, the $75 annual state registration fee paid to the Florida OMMU, plus $2.75 if you pay it online. Renewals and physician transfers are booked through the same office. Money-back guarantee: if the physician does not certify you at your visit, your evaluation fee is refunded. The $75 state ID card fee is paid to the Florida Department of Health and is not part of this refund.
Do Panama City patients need a referral to see a marijuana doctor?
No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by phone. You will need proof of Florida residency and any medical records documenting your condition. Medical records can help speed up the evaluation but are not always required. The OMMU says online ID card applications take an average of 10 business days for approval.
Can Panama City patients renew a Florida medical marijuana card with you?
Yes. Panama City patients book new certifications, renewals and physician transfers with our Tampa office, and renewals can be by telehealth with the physician who examined you in person. Under s. 381.986(4)(g), a qualified physician must evaluate you at least once every 30 weeks before issuing a new certification at renewal and must determine whether you still qualify for one. Your Florida medical marijuana card must be renewed annually, and your physician certification lasts no more than 210 days. Our staff assists with all OMMU documentation during your renewal.
Can I use my Panama City MMJ card at dispensaries anywhere in Florida?
Yes. Your Florida medical marijuana card is valid statewide at any licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center. After approval of your card by the OMMU, you can buy from licensed dispensaries in Panama City and throughout Florida for as long as both the card and your physician certification stay current. Your card is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
