At Dr. Green Relief, new patient medical marijuana card evaluations are $99 and renewals are $99. There is also a separate state identification card fee of $75 paid annually directly to the OMMU. Florida publishes no reduced ID card fee, so the $75 applies to every initial and renewal application.
Does insurance cover medical marijuana appointments in Florida?
Not under Florida’s medical marijuana law: the state constitution does not require any health insurance provider or government agency to reimburse expenses related to the medical use of marijuana (Art. X, s. 29(c)(7)), and marijuana is not reimbursable under workers’ compensation (section 381.986(15)(f)). Ask your health plan whether it pays for an evaluation. At our Sarasota office a new patient visit, a renewal and a transfer are each $99, and the $75 state fee is paid separately.
Can I get my Sarasota medical marijuana card the same day?
You cannot use your medical marijuana card the same day as your evaluation. After your medical marijuana doctor certifies you, you apply to the OMMU, which must approve your application first. The OMMU approves online applications in about 10 business days on average, and mailed ones take 3 to 5 days longer. The OMMU’s October 9, 2026 weekly update lists 5 business days to process a complete application and 5 business days to print the ID card.
