DR. GREEN RELIEF
Atlanta Marijuana Doctors
Dr. Green Relief has no office in Atlanta or anywhere else in Georgia. Atlanta patients need a certification from a physician who is licensed in Georgia and whose principal place of practice is in Georgia. A medical marijuana card in Atlanta comes from the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Medical Cannabis Patient Registry, which SB 220 expanded on July 1, 2026. Our Georgia medical marijuana card page lays out each step, from the Georgia physician’s certification to the DPH registry card. Your Atlanta cannabis card is officially the Medical Cannabis Patient Registry Card (formerly Low THC Oil Registry Card), and it is valid for five years. The certifying physician must be treating your condition, must check the state prescription drug monitoring program, and must renew the certification every year. Patients with an incurable or irreversible condition are exempt from the yearly renewal. The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission’s map, last updated August 5, 2026, lists four licensed dispensaries with an Atlanta street address.
Registered patients may use oils, tinctures, capsules and patches, and patients 22 or older may vape in private, but smoking medical cannabis is not allowed. A registered patient may carry medical cannabis products with up to 12,000 mg of THC in total, in the manufacturer’s labeled container. Your physician submits the certification to the state registry, DPH emails you a payment link, and the card is cancelled if you do not pay within 60 days.

Medicate
With an active Georgia Medical Cannabis Patient Registry card, you can purchase lab-tested medical cannabis products at state-licensed dispensaries.
Applicants show a Georgia driver’s license or ID, or another valid ID plus a bill or pay stub that carries a Georgia street address. Georgia residents with a qualifying condition can join Georgia’s Medical Cannabis Patient Registry, and a minor patient’s card goes to a parent or guardian. Each certification also confirms a bona fide physician-patient relationship and a review of the patient’s medical history and current condition.
A caregiver receives their own $30 registry card, and a designated adult caregiver may buy medical cannabis for the patient.
The 18 conditions are any cancer except non-metastatic skin cancer, seizure disorders, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, sickle cell disease, inflammatory bowel disease, mitochondrial disease, HIV at Stage III, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder for adults or severe autism for minors, severe peripheral neuropathy, PTSD for adults, intractable pain, lupus, epidermolysis bullosa, hospice care and Tourette’s syndrome.

Georgia Medical
Marijuana Card Program
Registered patients with an active Medical Cannabis card may lawfully possess up to 12,000 mg THC of medical cannabis in Georgia, kept in containers labeled by the manufacturer and with the physical or electronic card in their possession. DPH says the physician’s certification is an authorization, not a prescription. Georgia keeps registry participation confidential, with limited disclosures such as law enforcement checking a card. Georgia law does not require employers to accommodate medical cannabis use at work. Home growing is not allowed, so patients buy from licensed dispensaries and independent pharmacies.
Georgia
Marijuana Card Cost
The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) charges $30 for the Georgia Medical Marijuana Card itself, plus a $3.75 service fee if you pay online. Your physician’s evaluation fee is separate and is not paid to DPH.
Georgia Medical
Marijuana Laws
Obtaining your Georgia Medical Marijuana Card allows you to legally purchase, possess and use medical cannabis within the 12,000 mg THC limit. Georgia requires certification by a physician licensed in Georgia whose principal place of practice is in Georgia.
Atlanta
Marijuana Dispensaries
Your registry card works at any licensed dispensary in Atlanta and at independent pharmacies the Georgia Board of Pharmacy licenses. Each product package sold there may hold no more than 1,200 mg of THC, a tenth of what a patient may possess.
